An OSKBES MAI first-born. Simultaneously with the aircraft, which was rather complex by a design and technology, the aircraft building basis was created in the MAI. Two samples and a number of experimental units and installations were constructed. The aircraft has passed complete ground and air tests cycle. The result is: the all-round test of the system of direct control of the lift (SNUPS) is carried out.

For the first time in the USSR five official world records were established and registered by FAI at this aircraft. A number of new constructive solutions were tested. The Kvant is the first non-industrial aircraft, which has received the approval for the first start in the LII (Flight-Research Institute) from the Procedural Committee branch.
